Benefits of Fractionated Laser Technology

The benefits of using DOT Therapy, a technology similar to the Fraxel® laser resurfacing system, are both clear and comprehensive. Traditional CO2 resurfacing was once considered the gold standard for skin rejuvenation. However, it fully removed the outer layer of skin and required several weeks of downtime. Using a new and advanced approach, the SmartXide DOT CO2 laser safely creates microscopic wells (DOTs) without removing the entire layer of skin, allowing the patient the same rejuvenating benefits without the down time. This new technology induces immediate skin tightening and stimulation of new collagen growth. Our patients are often amazed with the improvement of their skin even with just one treatment.

Laser resurfacing isn’t just for facial skin, either. DOT Therapy is very popular for treating the neck, chest, hands, and unsightly scars from surgery or injury. Fractionated laser resurfacing diminishes dark spots and hyper pigmentation, improves loose skin, and minimizes the appearance of scars just about anywhere on the body.

Although the procedure itself is minimally invasive, the results can be dramatic. There is very little downtime, and risks for laser resurfacing are much lower than a more invasive procedure like a facelift or brow lift. Results are fast and accurate, with treatment sessions taking under an hour to complete. Plus, multiple areas may be treated simultaneously, meaning less time taken away from your hectic schedule. Treatments are carefully customized for the needs of the individual patient for results that count where they matter the most.

Dangers of Sun Damage

The signs of damage sustained to the delicate facial skin from the sun when you were younger don’t become apparent until years later. All those decades spent forgetting about sunscreen and skipping the nighttime moisturizer finally start to catch up to your aging skin.

Sun damage affects not only the pigmentation of your skin, such as freckles and dark spots, but it also has a negative effect on the tone and firmness of your skin. As skin ages, collagen production slows, making skin even more vulnerable to harsh weather and damaging UV rays. Laser resurfacing not only reduces the evidence of damage from the sun, but actually removes the layer of most-damaged skin cells, allowing fresh skin cells to appear.

Restoring Your Reflection

Through DOT Therapy, just a short visit to our offices can have you looking younger in minutes, while actually improving the health and appearance of your skin. Although there aren’t any treatments that can stop aging completely in its tracks, fractionated CO2 laser resurfacing (the same technology as Fraxel®) helps our Ohio, West Virginia and Pittsburgh patients restore their skin to a younger, more radiant appearance for years to come.
